Devinci Troy – 2019

C’est Magnifique!

Its really hard to find something that the Troy, made by the Quebec-based Devinici, is bad at. Its a bike of many hats, you know, if bikes could actually wear hats. The bike truly is just fun and really is great for anything you can really throw at it.

On the uphill, the bike is vraiment génial. Its 432mm chainstay keeps your feet on the power and allows you to really pump up the hill with similar efficiency to the Tour de France riders. Combine that with the 75° seat angle, which gives a moderate and comfortable riding position, and you have super robust peddling for getting up that mountain Furthermore, its Split Pivot suspension really keeps your wheels on the ground, even while ascending beefier terrain. It feels stiff and stout and is the epitome of the “functionality of a trail bike, capability of a enduro bike” idea that bike manufacturers have been championing recently.

The downhill is where things really come into play with the Troy. Due to its moderately slack 65.5 head tube angle and its 150mm up front and 140mm at the rear suspension, this bike really is a do it all. Its forte is the rough stuff; the backend of the bike stays true, even on the gnarliest of terrain. Its feels secure and safe, asking you to push it just a little bit more! That doesn’t mean its a tank though, in fact, its one of the quickest 29er’s that we have as far as cornering. It really is secure in anything you want to do with it. It's playful yet steady, stiff yet poppy, and really is versatile as a true all-around machine.

Devinci Troy  - The Bottom Line

While this bike isn’t superb at one thing, it truly is good at everything. Its a stiff and efficient pedaling, and has a good moderate chainstay for the uphill. Its rear suspension is good for that as well, as the Split Pivot design keeps your tires on the ground without introducing any bob into the equation. It feels like a trail bike in the way it pedals. And on the downhill, its the best of all worlds. Its playful and poppy, but is secure and feels safe. It really pushes you to go faster and harder. It has that “smash everything feel”, while still being smooth and fun at high speed. It truly is the best of all worlds. If you are looking for a moderate bike, in almost every single facet, make sure and check out the Troy. Its, say, le vélo parfait pour tout.
