Devinci Marshall 27.5 Plus

Like a kitten on a carpet wall: designed for traction and stability, the Devinci Marshall 27.5 Plus trail bike keeps you on track no matter what the trail throws at you. With 110mm of Split Pivot suspension in the rear and 120mm up front, rolling on super-grippy 3-inch tires, the Marshall is a confidence-inspiring combination of frisky and stable.

The big, grippy 27.5+ tires make the Devinci Marshall Plus an obvious choice for less experienced riders who will appreciate the smooth ride, increased traction and forgiving handling. It’s not just for beginners, though. Experienced riders will love the Marshall on loose, wet and off-camber trails where the plus tires encourage you to relax and let ‘er rip. Uphill, the 3-inch tires dig in so you can rock-crawl up any kind of slope. And when it’s time to point it back downhill, the Marshall’s Split Pivot suspension, slack geometry and fat rubber will have you on the lookout for the nastiest, rowdiest lines the trail has to offer.

Devinci Marshall 27.5 Plus Split Pivot Suspension

One of the main reasons we have the Devinci bikes in our fleet is the fantastic Split Pivot suspension system. It pedals really well and ramps up on big hits for a truly bottomless feel. Devinci’s full-suspension bikes all feel like they have more travel than they actually do. Patented by Dave Weagle, who also designed the popular DW Link suspension system, Split Pivot is a variation on the single pivot that places the rear pivot in-line with the rear axle. It’s simple, reliable, stiff and the rear pivot placement isolates braking from suspension so you can brake as hard as you want without affecting suspension movement.

To learn more about the Devinci Marshall suspension, let Dave Weagle explain it himself in this Split Pivot suspension video from Devinci.

Devinci Marshall 27.5 Plus Aluminum Frame

The Devinci Marshall is available in carbon and aluminum. Most of the Marshalls in our demo fleet are aluminum models, handmade in North America at Devinci’s Canadian factory. Constructed from hydroformed Optimum G04 6066-T6 tubing, the aluminum Marshall frames are light, stiff, bombproof and offer a ton of performance for your money.

If you’re the kind of rider who demands the best and lightest, Devinci’s DMC-G carbon Marshall drops the frame weight by a solid pound.

Devinci Marshall 27.5 Plus – The Bottom Line

There are two ways to look at the Devinci Marshall Plus bike – it’s an easy-to-ride, forgiving trail bike; or, it’s a short-travel all-mountain/downhill bike. How you categorize it depends on how experienced you are and what kind of trails you like to ride. The Devinci Marshall will make beginning mountain bikers feel more confident and have more fun on the trail. The slack geometry, bottomless suspension and bonus traction will dare more experienced riders to throw caution to the wind and send it hard.

Devinci Marshall 27.5 Plus – Where it Fits

Since it’s currently our only full-suspension plus bike, the Devinci Marshall Plus doesn’t have any direct competition. The most obvious comparisons are the Devinci Django 29, a short-travel 29er trail bike; and the 140mm 27.5 Devinci Troy all-mountain bike.
