Argon 18 Krypton
The Argon 18 Krypton carbon road bike blends great fit, speed and comfort in a lightweight, versatile package. If you could only have one road bike (the horror!), the Krypton would be the obvious choice.
For 25 years, Quebec-based Argon 18 has been making a name for themselves with distinctive, innovative bike designs. All of Argon’s bikes are designed around their Optimal Balance philosophy, which optimizes weight, stiffness and comfort to produce a bike with outstanding handling, fit and performance. The proof is in the pudding and the pudding is race results. Argon 18 racers have done great at the Tour de France and other major stage races. Jelly Belly Cycling team member and Argon 18 rider Lachlan Morton, put in an incredible effort to win this year’s Tour of Utah stage race, right here in Park City.
Based on Argon 18’s Gallium Pro Tour-level race bike, the Krypton has taller, endurance-oriented geometry and a carbon layup tuned for comfort across a wide variety of road surfaces. Engineered for both performance and comfort, the Argon 18 Krypton is perfect for the cycling enthusiast who wants a great all-round performer for club rides, training and Gran Fondos. It’s also a solid option for athletes who want a comfortable daily driver with the pedigree and precision to hang in the peloton.
There are two things that set the Krypton and other Argon 18 bikes apart from the rest. The most obvious is Argon’s “Press-fit 3D System.” The 3D System offers three head tube heights (0mm, 15mm and 25mm) for each frame, via a press-fit insert. This allows you to fine-tune your geometry and body positioning. But unlike traditional headset spacers, Argon’s Press-fit 3D System increases the bike’s rigidity. So raising your head tube height actually improves the Krypton’s stiffness and handling.
The second thing that differentiates the Krypton from other endurance bikes is Argon’s Horizontal Dual System (HDS) frame design. The HDS concept divides the carbon frame on a horizontal access, with oversize tubing on the bottom for stiffness and smaller, more compliant tubes on top for comfort. To make the Krypton even more comfortable, Argon 18 developed a special carbon layup that smooths out bumps and dampens vibrations on even the roughest roads. The result is a super smooth, comfortable ride that also efficient power transfer and incredible acceleration.
With trickle-down race-proven design, relaxed geometry and vibration-reducing carbon for all-road comfort, the Argon 18 Krypton is the clear winner.
