About Park City Bike Demos
Established by down-to-earth, passionate cyclists with decades of industry experience, Park City Bike Demos offers a unique bike rental and sales experience with an emphasis on high-performance bikes, great value, and phenominal customer service.
Located in the heart of Utah’s scenic Wasatch Mountains, Park City Bike Demos is a new concept in high-end destination bike rentals, We also offer an industry-leading approach for rigorous testing of the latest technology and trends for people in the market for a new bike. Our try-before-you-buy experience allows people to truly figure out if they might be a mountain biker who prefers 29ers or not, or to see first-hand how much a difference carbon fiber wheels make. For this reason, Park City Bike Demos is not just a rental center but is the top-dealer in Utah for many of the brands we carry. Our positive, supportive attitude and commitment to the customer are core values and our number one goal is making sure every customer has a great experience. We design this into everything we do, including the design of our customer experience.
Likewise, because Park City is a great family destination, visitors are likely to have an incredible time even if only one or two people in your family are cyclists. Park City is now a prominent year-round destination that offers great food, cool weather, shopping, tons of family activities (white water rafting, zip lining, etc), and we’re only 30 minutes from Salt Lake City International airport.
We started as just a couple of guys slinging rental bikes from a converted delivery truck (see our mobile bike shops). We wanted to make it easier for locals and visitors-alike to find and rent the perfect bike; and we wanted to show off the premium technology and approach from the smaller brands we believe in. So we built our our website; we told our story to some of our now-partner companies; and in early 2016 we began construction of a world-class high-end bicycle demo center in Park City to showcase the bikes we’ve selected and other cycling-related products we’ve tested that are leaders among their competition.
We hand-pick the best road and mountain bikes from brands we believe in, and we meticulously maintain all of the bikes in our rental fleet. Rent or buy a bike from Park City Bike Demos and you’re guaranteed a great ride and a great time on the most exciting, best maintained and most advanced road and mountain bikes in Park City.
About the Bikes
In the world of bike shops where quality of rental is a 2nd priority, Park City Bike Demos’ mission is to provide a positive, memorable experience that leaves you with a smile. The bike is a critical part of that equation so we put a lot of effort into choosing the bikes we offer. We pore over launch articles, spec sheets and geometry tables. We do in-depth real-world test riding before we add a new bike to our fleet.
You might have noticed Park City Bike Demos does not carry the big, well-known bike brands. That’s because in cycling, evolution of the technology comes from small and medium size manufacturers while the larger manufacturers typically have to wait to see what is adopted, before they choose to have 10,000 units made. Furthermore, small and medium size manufacturers are the true heart and soul of the industry. Boutique bike brands drive new design trends and build bikes that exceed the performance of larger manufacturers’ bikes — all of the latest designs in mountain biking (wheel sizes, suspension design innovations, etc) over the last 15 years all came from them. We’d like to give you the opportunity to experience a bike that’s built on the cutting edge of technology and out of passion for performance, rather than a bike designed to meet investor demands.
For 2016, our rental fleet includes mountain bikes by Felt, BMC, Devinci and Knolly; and road bikes from BMC, Felt and Colnago. We also have a partnership with Reynolds Cycling and we’re one of the only places you can demo a set of Reynolds carbon road or mountain wheels. We choose our bikes carefully, cherry-picking the most interesting and exciting bikes from our partners, looking for standout geometry, features, components and materials. Our road bike fleet is all carbon-fiber exclusively, equipped with hydraulic disc brakes and many of our bikes are also equipped with electronic shifting. We are the only rental company in Park City offering bikes with electronic shifting.
For mountain bikes, the emphasis is on fun bikes with great all-mountain trail handling. Most of our bikes have at least 140mm of travel, dropper posts, RockShox Pike forks and 1×11 drivetrains. We carry 27.5 and 29er trail bikes with both aluminum and carbon models to meet every kind of budget.
No matter what bike you choose, you can rest assured it’s only in our fleet because we think it’s a special bike that you’ll have a great time riding on Park City’s world-class trails here in our wonderful town.
Why Park City?
Nestled on the eastern slope of Utah’s Wasatch Mountains just half an hour from the Salt Lake City International Airport, Park City (elevation: 7000 ft. / 2100m) is an internationally recognized cycling destination. With two major ski resorts offering lift-assisted mountain biking and over 400 miles of trails, Park City was the first Gold-Rated IMBA destination in the world. Park City has spectacular road riding, as well. Home to the Tour of Utah, one of only two UCI-sanction road races in the U.S.A, Grand Tour racers from around the world have challenged our mountain passes. Ride the same routes your favorite pros have competed on and see how you measure up!
As a well-established vacation destination, Park City offers activities and facilities for every kind of need, desire and group. Whether you’re coming with friends, bringing the whole family or planning a conference, you’ll find restaurants, lodging, shopping and entertainment for everyone in your group. For non-cyclists, there’s hiking, golfing, zip lines, mountain slide, fly fishing, horseback riding and more – all beneath the 10,000+ ft., aspen-covered Wasatch Mountains.

Thane Hall, Partner, Operations, Mechanics
Thane is a master bike mechanic with decades of experience in the cycling industry. He got his start as a twenty-year-old bike shop wrench in the late eighties. Since then he’s been a racer, a youth cycling coach and a pro road racing team manager. He also ran the mobile demo programs for Rocky Mountain Bicycles and Turner Bikes – perfect training for his current position with Park City Bike Demos. On the weekends you’ll find him serving up perfect espressos at Park City and Salt Lake farmer’s markets from his popular Uinta Coffee truck. A Burning Man repeat offender, Thane lives on the edge of the Uinta Mountains where he rides a secret, primitive trail system that keeps him in shape for his next trip to the Playa.
Andre Shoumatoff, Partner, Telephones, Website, Operations
A lifelong cyclist, Andre Shoumatoff grew up in Upstate New York and went to University of Vermont before moving to Park City nearly 15 years ago. Park City Bike Demos combines his experience as an Internet marketer with his passions for cycling and customizing vehicles (e.g., our mobile bike shops). He’s been mountain biking since he was a kid and has pedaled trails all over the West, from Moab to Marin. Andre spent five years running a small bike shop that specialized in high-end custom builds, eventually turning it into the largest Turner dealer in Utah. Although he’s a filthy mountain biker at heart, Andre’s been obsessed with the Tour de France for years and three years ago caved in and bought a road bike. He now rides road as much or more than dirt and has put in over 5000 miles on the pavement since he gave in to his skinny tire urge.
